Akki Rotti is a very popular rice-based breakfast dish from Karnataka, India. Akki Rotti means a rice pancake which is prepared using rice flour as main ingredient.

  • 2 Onion medium size  (chopped)
  • 2-3 Green chilies chopped

  • 3 Tbsp. Fresh coconut  (grated)
  • 1 Tsp. Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Warm water  (for kneading)
  • Oil  (for pan frying)
  1. Chop onion and coriander very finely. Chop green chilies. Grate fresh coconut and keep aside.

  2. In a big mixing bowl add rice flour, finely chopped onion, chilies, coriander leaves, grated coconut, cumin seeds and salt to taste. Add warm water as required and prepared a soft dough.

  3. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts.

  4. Grease a griddle or skillet with oil and set it ready. You can use Kadahi also.

  5. Take big lemon size rice flour dough and spread or pat it equally and thinly as possible on a greased pan. You can grease or finger with water or oil to pat the dough .

  6. Make hole in center of the rotti as shown in picture. This will help in evenly cooking of roti.
