Easy Rice Krispies Christmas Tree Treats

Christmas is all most here and It’s a time for celebration, greetings and yummy food. Preparing seasonal recipes with few easy tricks and twist just boosts the holiday spirit. Every year my son ask me to prepare something special on these special occasions, something special to celebrate or something that represent the festivals. These Rice Krispies Christmas Trees are crunchy, sweet and makes perfect Christmas theme dessert

So this year we thought of making these cute rice krispies or rice puff christmas treats. These Christmas trees can be made with just 5 ingredients. To make these I will using vegan marshmallows and rice puff as main ingredients. Rice puffs are also known as Murmara or Muri. These treats are very easy to make, relatively neat and can be your last minute holiday treat/school treat if you are busy and running out of the time. Kids are totally going to love these cuties. This season give this recipe a try and Merry Christmas.

Step by Step Instructions with Photos

  1. Grease 10 x 15 x 1 inch tray and keep aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. 
  3. Add the Vegan marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted.
  1. Add enough food color to make mixture dark green as it will lighten when cereal is added. Mix well.
  1. Remove from heat and add rice puff/Rice Krispies.
  2. Stir constantly until everything is incorporated well. 
  1. Spread the mixture on greased tray using buttered spatula/wax paper or with greased hands and press evenly.
  2. Immediately sprinkle the sprinklers.
  3. Allow to set about 20 minutes.
  1. Cut horizontally into 5”x 3 rows. Then cut each row into triangles, you will get 6 scraps leftover, 2 from each row.
  2. Insert the coffee stirrer/skewers carefully. 
  1. Melt white candy melts as per package direction or at the intervals of 30 seconds.
  2. Place the melted chocolate in an icing bag and decorate the tress. Add choice of sprinklers over the white candy melts. Add sprinkler right after candy melts, as candy melts dries very quick.
  1. These cute festive tree treats are ready to serve. Merry Christmas!!!

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 2 cups Vegan Marshmallow
  • 3 cups Rice Krispie/Rice puff (Marmara/Muri)
  • 1 Tsp Food color, I use gel food color
  • 8 Ice-cream stick/Coffee stirrer/Skewers (cut into half)
  • 1/2 cup White candy melt (for decoration)
  • Sprinkler (As required)

Note
  • You have to be very quick and get everything handy before going on the flame. As marshmallow cool down very rapidly.
  • To make these cute trees, press the mixture a little more firmly to get even texture and shape.
