Rava Ladoo/Suzi Ke Ladoo/Semolina Dessert

Rava Ladoo/Suzi ladoo is a traditional Indian dessert prepared during the festive seasons. During busy festival season when you are running our of time, these ladoos are big win. This recipe is super quick and really easy one. These ladoos can be prepared in 30 minutes with very simple ingredients, easily available in your Indian pantry.

These ladoos are made with roasted rava/semolina and coconut combined with milk, sugar, ghee, dry fruits, rolled into round shape balls. This Ladoos are mouth melting and delicious. Dry fruit adds nice crunch to these sweet cuties. Give this quick recipe a try, enjoy with your friends and family.

Step by Step Instructions with Photos

  1. Dissolve Saffron in 1-2 tbsp. of warm milk and mix it with remaining milk. Chop dry fruits and keep aside
  2. Heat 2 Tbsp.  ghee in a pan or wok. Add ½ cup dry fruits and roast them until they turn light golden brown.
  1. Add 2 Cups Semolina, stir often and roast till it become fragrant and changes its color. Roast it for around 5-6 minutes on a slow flame. 
  1. Now add ½ cup desiccated coconut, mix well and roast for another 2-3 min on slow flame.
  1. Add 1 cup of sugar and cardamom powder, stir until nice aroma of semolina and coconut starts coming out and mix well.
  2. Dissolve Saffron in 1-2 tbsp. of warm milk and mix it with remaining milk. (keep it ready) Add saffron mix milk in parts and keep on stirring and mix very well.
  1. Turn off the flame once all the milk is absorbed and cover with lid for 3-5 minutes.
  1. Add 1 tbsp. of remaining ghee and mix well. Ghee adds smooth texture and enhance the taste of Ladoos.
  1. Shape them into small round balls when the mixture is still warm and you can handle the heat. You can grease your palm with ghee for making balls.
  1. Roll the balls in desiccated coconut, and let them set for couple of minutes. These ladoos can be stored refrigerated in an air-tight container for couple of days
  2. Rava Coconut Ladoos are ready to serve. Enjoy with your friends and family.

Ingredients (Makes - 20 pieces)
  • 2 cups/200 g Semolina/Rava
  • ½ cup Desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. Ghee (divided in 2:1)
  • ½ cup Dry fruits like raisins, cashews and almonds (roughly chopped)
  • ¼ Tsp Cardamom powder
  • 10-15 Strands Saffron
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ½ cup Desiccated coconut (for rolling ladoos)
