Baharat is an Arabic word which simply means “Spice”. Baharat is mixture of finely grounded spices widely used in Middle Eastern cuisine. Every cuisine has its own set of spice powders, defining that cuisine with a characteristic flavor and aroma.

Baharat is an Arabic word which simply means “Spice”. Baharat is mixture of finely grounded spices widely used in Middle Eastern cuisine. Just a pinch of Baharat is enough to add an intense flavor and irresistible aroma to various Middle Eastern recipes including soups, curries, stews, sauces etc.

Ingredients (Servings - cup)

Instructions

  1. In a nonstick pan dry roast black peppercorn, dry red chili flakes, coriander seeds, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds and cloves on a medium flame for 3 minutes, while stirring continuously.

  2. Cool completely and add the nutmeg powder, dry ginger powder, cardamom powder blend in a mixer to a fine powder and store in an air-tight container. Use as required.
